Bangall Dining Table

Bangall Dining Table

Custom made dining table with a single pedestal. Milled, kiln dried and handcrafted in Millbrook, NY with a Shou Sugi Ban charred wood finish.

The 2” thick top with wide planks is attached to a base with a special joinery technique. No glue, no nails so the entire piece is able to move and self level.

Details

Shou Sugi Ban technique originated in 18th century Japan and is a particularly striking method of preserving wood by charring it with fire.

Traditionally, this practice is used with Japanese cedar in order to weatherproof it. The wood is burned until the surface is charred, and then coated with natural oil.
